i know one of these days i'll get around to posting about "the hospital" experience but for now i want to share a little story that happened the day i was released. beau had brought the girls to the hospital monday afternoon for a visit. i had only seen beau for two days out of the last almost two weeks (between me recovering from surgery and then him going to california/me being in the hospital) and i had spent very little time with my girls so this was a nice visit. he took the girls home that night and they ended up releasing me later on that evening.
i had planned to stay the night in midway with my sister who was babysitting/house sitting for the family she nanny's for (who also happen to live in midway) since i didn't feel up to driving home late that night by myself. we sometime take the kitties with us up to my parents house if we are going to be gone for more than a few days. i had told beau to leave the kitties and i would just bring them home with me on tuesday when i came home to our house.
my sister took me to pick up some prescriptions and to get some shave ice, yum, and then we stopped by my parents house before going over to where we would be staying the night. we walked in and my mom said "the kitties are gone, they jumped out an open window in the basement and dad is out looking for them." i have to admit i wasn't terribly upset but i knew the girls would be. we asked my dad if he was sure that he had checked every room, closet, bathroom in the basement to make sure they hadn't gotten locked somewhere by mistake....he assured us he had.
i spent the night over with my sister while my dad had a restless night of sleep worrying about these silly kitties. he couldn't imagine breaking the news to the girls that they were gone, especially after the rough couple of weeks we all had. he said he prayed a lot that night and then woke up early tuesday morning and ran to the local animal shelter to see if maybe they were there...no luck.
before leaving to back home that afternoon i was in the basement printing some stuff off the computer while my dad was doing some cleaning. suddenly he goes "do you hear meowing?" i listened and realized i did too. we start looking around, opening up doors and low and behold there were the kitties. somehow they had got themselves locked in the bathroom off the dance studio (my parents house is really huge...like 6 bathrooms) and since no one ever uses that bathroom he hadn't thought to check. you should've seen my dad's face. he was so relieved and excited. i on the other hand was glad i didn't have to break bad news to the girls, but seriously i really am not an animal lover.
so if you're still reading this long and random story, the moral of the story is, prayer works. for big things and for simple things. i had a lot of wonderful spiritual experiences during my hospital stay and i know that heavenly father is very mindful of our struggles and things that we are going through. check out these pictures. can you imagine telling these kids their kitties were gone...yikes, me either!
