christmas morning was great. the kids were all spoiled
{despite insisting we weren't going to this year}
so cute story about kaylee's "elf on the shelf" during the month of december she wrote 3 or 4 letters to santa. finally in one of them she told santa she wanted an "elf on the shelf"
or a "princess tutu skirt" she asked me for an envelope and i told her where they were. she ended up grabbing a tithing envelope instead. she put the letter in, stamped {with a stamper, not an actually stamp} in the corner and put "north pole" in the from address. i totally spaced when she said she wanted to put in in the mailbox, forgetting it was actually addressed to our bishop.
a few hours after mailing the letter i got a call from the bishop. he said "funny thing happened today, i got a letter from a kaylee knapton asking santa for a few things!" i was so embarrassed. i guess living in a small town, even if letters aren't properly addressed/stamped they still deliver. he went on to say how it had just made is day and how "santa" wanted to make sure kaylee got what she was asking for. he is a very sweet and wonderful man. he and his wife actually bought kaylee the "elf on the shelf" and dropped it by the house christmas eve for us to give her that night. she was so excited christmas morning to see that santa brought her what she really wanted. a cute story that we'll remember for a very long time.

so we ended up getting her a bike and my mom had the idea to hide it in the other room and have her open an empty box and then tell her where it was. cute idea, but for a 4 year old she totally did not understand.....
